The Sketchstacks Currculum meets the following New York State Standards for the Visual Arts:

Students will:

  • Use the computer and other electronic media as designing tools to communicate visual ideas (I & CG)
  • Use a variety of art materials, processes, mediums and techniques, and use appropriate technologies for creating and exhibiting visual art works. (I & CG)
  • During the creative process, reflect on their developing work to determine the effectiveness of selected mediums and techniques for conveying meaning and adjust their decisions accordingly (I & CG)
  • Discuss and write their analyses and interpretations of their own works of art and the art of others, using appropriate critical language (I & CG)
  • Demonstrate an increasing level of competence in using the elements and principles of art to create works for public exhibition (CG)
  • Create a collection of art work, in a variety of mediums, based on instructional assignments and individual and collective experiences to explore perceptions, ideas, and viewpoints (CG)
  • Produce comprehensive and well-organized commencement portfolios of their work and skill in using and manipulating the computer and other electronic media (CM)
